Happy Holidays David! — Comic Cover Gag Gift

Hey hey—

 Christmas time is here! We did a "Secret Santa" exchange at the workplace this year, and I was lucky enough to have my boy David. Or rather, he was lucky enough to have me have him. Quick little back story here, David LOVES him some Pop Tarts, and it is no secret to anyone at work that this is the case. That being said, I knew whoever I had drawn was going to get a comic book cover of some sort, but when I drew David, it came almost too easily to me. 

Enough rambling, here's the cover. Happy Holidays David!

New Illustration — Outlaw Heart

New illustration! This one inspired by the Tiger Army song of the same name. Particularly this bit of lyrics:

"Cigarette smoke and shadow,
 A neon cactus in the night.
 Did what I did, 'cause I thought that I had no choice,
 But there's always another way"

What is he running from? Is he running at all? What about us? What are we running from? Perhaps we are running toward something? So many outcomes and possibilities! Anyway, enough yammering on with the backstory; here's the illustration:

My Boy Denard…

So last week I posted a new self-portrait. As is turns out, at work I've illustrated our team (Marketing) as little cartoons in the past. Sadly, these illustrations were quick, sloppy, and silly looking. I have decided to do a "2.0" version of these portraits, and got the list of our team. Alphabetically, one by one, I will re-draw our whole team. 

This one was first on the list, my boy Adam. One down, 39 to go…

It's Done…

It's done. The graphic novel. Holy crap it's finally done. Now—to find a publisher. The battle continues, but I shall prevail. Hopefully we can hope to see this in print by the end of June / Mid July. Of course, I'll keep the updates coming. Here is a sneak peek at the current cover.

Illustrate Everday — Jacob

So I've been doing these drawings of sad little kids lately. I don't know why. I'm not sad or emo or anything; I just felt as though I need to draw them. I guess I am imagining a larger project with them, maybe a little "yearbook" or possibly some sort of installation piece with the drawing of the child framed with a personal belonging of theirs. These are all done with ballpoint pen on post-it notes, but I plan to scan them into Photoshop to put a wash-like layer on them. We'll see how this evolves, but for the time being, let's just start posting some of the little drawings as they are.

Hi there. So, recently I decided I need to illustrate everyday. Something. Anything. No rhyme or reason, just shut up and draw. Now, posting everyday is entirely different altogether. I mean, I'm not going to lie and say I will, because I know I will not. But, when I can, I will post some of these drawings here. Who knows what you may see. Yes, it has been ages since I posted. But for good reason; the inking on the Graphic Novel is complete and scanned! Just putting it together and hopefully can start with printing by the end of March.
